Individual Income Tax20 Dec
Taxpayers who qualify for advance Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments for 2021 should’ve received the final 2021 payment on or near Dec. 15, 2021 (if by direct deposit). This final batch totaling about $16 billion will reach more than 36 million families this month. (Unless Congress acts to extend the program, it will end with the December payments.) Eligible families that haven’t received any payments may receive the full amount they qualify for in one Dec. payment. If no advance CTC payments were received, eligible taxpayers can claim the full amount on their 2021 federal tax return, filed in 2022, even if they don’t normally need to file a return.
